Mark J. Tousignant

Mark J. Tousignant (Tousy, Mr. Mark, Father Mark, and so on), age 68 of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Mark Tousignant, the son of James and Lorraine Tousignant was born on November 19, 1955, in Faribault, MN.  Mark’s family resided in Faribault, MN where he attended and graduated from Faribault High School in 1974. Through his years in high school, he was involved with theatre where his love for technical sound and lights really took off.  He attended Rochester Community College and studied electrical engineering. He graduated in 1976. After college he worked for Mahler Hardware and then for the lumber yard but continued to help with theatre at Faribault High School as a Technical Consultant/Supervisor for many years. 

On April 25, 1987, he married the love of his life Darlene (Dar) Nelson. In 1992 he started working for Chadderdon Lumber and in 1995 he started working for the Faribault Public School, where he continued to work in both places until his passing. 

He enjoyed working with the Faribault School District, FACT, Paradise Community Theatre, Paradise Center for the Arts, numerous bands with sound and lighting, and community events for countless years such as Tree Frog Music Festival. He also loved working with his hands and building things for theatre and for other people to enjoy.

He is survived by his daughter Ashley (Brendan) Clark of Lismore, New South Wales, two grandchildren (Amelia and Ada) and sister-in-law, Kathy (Jim) Day of Milliken, Colo. He is also going to be missed by his extended family Paul and Val Johnson, Heather (Josh, Tayden, Corbin) Grambart, Hope (Eric, Wittney, Louella, Eleanora) Miller, and Holly Witt, his Chadderdon work family, Theatre family, and countless other friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

A memorial service will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home and Crematory of Faribault on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a service starting at 6:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life will be planned for spring or early summer of 2024.
