Mark Haley

February 9, 1931 — April 22, 2012

Mark J. Haley, age 81 of Waseca, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.   Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 25th at 1:30 P.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Martin Schaefer, Celebrant. Interment with military honors will be in the St. Jarlath Cemetery in Iosco Township.    Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca, and will continue on Wednesday afternoon for one hour prior to services, at the church. There will be a 7:30 P.M. parish prayer service Tuesday evening, at the funeral home.   Mark John was born on February 9, 1931 in Waseca, Minnesota to Oscar and Loretta (Pfeifer) Haley. Mark attended Okaman District 27 School and graduated with theWaterville-Elysian High School Class of 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Japan. Mark was united in marriage to Jacelyn DeMars on October 22, 1960 at St. John The Baptist Church in Mankato. They farmed and raised their family on their St. Mary Township farm. Mark loved spending time with his family and visiting with friends and neighbors. He had many hobbies including, collecting counter checks, stamps and coins, gardening, traveling and sightseeing, genealogy, and geography. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #2768, the Waseca American Legion Post # 228, and the St. Jarlath Cemetery Board.    He is survived by his wife Jacelyn of Waseca: by his children, Roger (Tammy) Haley of Waseca, Ron Haley of Burnsville, Jerome (Marcia) Haley of Waseca, Sharon Haley of St. Louis Park, Paul Haley of Janesville, Sue (Jeff) Scruggs of Mankato, Dan (Lora) Haley of Waseca, Mary (Colin) Hames of New Ulm, Carol (Joel) Leonard of Mankato, and Tom (Colleen) Haley of Waseca: by his grandchildren, Andrea Hildebrandt and Kelsey Haley; Andrew Haley, Ben (Karin), Chip, Haley, Nathan, and Jason Scruggs; Courtney and Dylan Romain, Matthew, Sarah, and David Haley; Katie, Megan, and Michael Hames; Elise, Valerie, and Xavier Leonard; Rachel Haley and his great grandson, Karlan Scruggs; by his brother, John Haley of Waseca, and his sister, Helen Haley of Waterville: by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Donna Danberry of Mankato, Shirley Fitzloff of Mankato, Rose (Jim) Loeffler of Eagle Lake, Kathy (Tom) Wright of Reston, VA, Jan Ellis of Waseca, Pat (Tony) Staloch of Janesville, and Bob Kulseth of Mankato.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Loretta: by his brother, Kenneth: by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rita (Warmka) Haley, LaVerne DeMars, Joyce (Bud) Hill, Jack Danberry, Jim Fitzloff, Lyle Halberg, Darlene Kulseth, and Lowell Ellis: by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo and Antonia (Iverson) DeMars.    Casket Bearers are Mark's grandchildren.
