Marilyn J. Hora, age 81 of Faribault, MN passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault with Fr. Brandon Theisen officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour prior to services.
Marilyn Joan, the daughter of John and Mary (Raichl) Pesek, was born on August 2, 1939 in Boone, IA. She attended Boone High School and graduated with the class of 1957. Following high school she attended Creighton University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. On April 3, 1961 she was united in marriage to Richard Hora in Boone, IA. Later they would move to Faribault and Marilyn worked as a RN at District One Hospital for 35 years. Marilyn was an active volunteer at Divine Mercy Church, singing in the Resurrection Choir at funerals for many years, working in the gift shop and watering the flowers all around the church. She loved attending any activity that involved her grandchildren and was also an avid gardener. She was a violinist in the Cannon Valley Regional Orchestra and enjoyed going to water aerobics and later going out for coffee and donuts with the rest of the mermaids in her class.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Hora of Faribault; by her four children and their families, Mark Hora of Northfield, Joseph (Penny) Hora of Acton, MA and their children, Madison, Elizabeth and John Hora, Kim (Dan) Zunker of Eden Prairie, MN and their children, Ryan and Alex Zunker and Kathryn (Joe) Donahue of Faribault and their children, Kayla (Koy), Meagan and Mackenzie; by her sisters, Donna Pesek of Omaha, NE and Marge (Bill) Cronin of Ashland, OR and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
