Marilyn J. Clove-Kelley, age 63, of Waukee, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at J.A. Wedum Residential Hospice in Brooklyn Park, MN.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, MN. A memorial service will start at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Sandgren, pastor of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, officiating. A reception will follow the service, and the interment will be held at the Dawson Township Cemetery in Paton, Iowa at a later date.
Marilyn Jean was born on November 3, 1956 in Watertown, South Dakota to Joe and Ardyth (Stueland) Clove. She was raised in Lake Norden, South Dakota and graduated from Hamlin High School with the class of 1975. Following high school, Marilyn pursued her education for her nursing career. She received her LPN in Watertown and her RN in Sioux City, Iowa. Later in life, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Iowa. Marilyn worked for 18 years of her nursing career at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She loved taking care of people as a nurse.
Marilyn married Henry Allen Kelley on April 11, 1986, and they made their home in Waukee. They raised two children together, Kelsey Rae and Henry Joseph. Marilyn was very involved in her children’s activities and was exceptionally proud of their achievements. She enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles, cheering for the Minnesota Twins, watching Wheel of Fortune and movies, reading non-fiction biography books, and flower gardening. She took great pride in her Norwegian Lutheran heritage and loved her hometown of Lake Norden. Marilyn’s kind and generous nature will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Kelsey Kelley (Jason Steck Kelley) of Andover, MN and Henry Joseph Kelley of Faribault, MN; her sister, Julie Mellen (Chris Powell) of Seattle, WA; her niece, Tracey Laverty of Tacoma, WA; and numerous relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; parents, Joe and Ardyth; and sister, Jodeen Laverty.
