Marilyn J. Bailey, age 97 of Faribault, MN passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the Kenyon Sunset Home in Kenyon, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Faribault with Pastor Garry Rosenau officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home and Crematory in Faribault.
Marilyn June Bailey, the daughter of John and Stella (Naas) Lexvold, was born on July 7, 1922 in Zumbrota, MN. She attended Zumbrota High School and graduated with the class of 1940. On February 18, 1941 she was united in marriage to Austin Bailey in Mason City, IA. They then resided in Omaha, NE until 1943 before purchasing a farm near Phillipsburg, KS and staying there until 1953 when they moved to Faribault, MN. Marilyn worked as a cook for Garfield Elementary school for five years and in the ASCS office for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 21 years before getting a part time job as a secretary for Vandeputte’s, retiring in 1985. Marilyn was an active church member at the Church of Christ for many years. She loved to bake, and everyone loved her baking, especially her cookies. Spending time with family was very important to Marilyn, and she especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren. She loved to entertain and visit with friends. She was an avid card player, and also enjoyed reading books and completing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her son, Allen Bailey of Faribault; daughter, Sally Gray of Faribault; eight grandchildren, Michael Bailey, Patrick (Sheri) Bailey, Jason (Steffany) Kindseth, Heather (Aaron) Wutschke, Mandy (Matthew) Weeks, Jennifer (Brian) Holbein, Megan (Michael) Schenach, and Matthew (Missy) Bailey; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Jean (Lyle) Borgschatz of Wanamingo, MN; two brothers, Ordean (Catherine) Lexvold of Lino Lakes, MN, and Bob (Dianne) Lexvold of Zumbrota, MN; daughter in law, Sue Bailey; and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Marilyn was dearly loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends and relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Stella Lexvold; husband, Austin Bailey; son, Larry Bailey; and brother, Jerrold (Corrine) Lexvold.
