Marie H. (Garvin) Lenz, age 74, of Faribault, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital after an extended illness, with her loving family at her side.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault.
Memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of memorials or flowers, the family prefers any donations to be directed to Ruth's House (non-profit women's shelter) or the Safe Sanctuary (non-profit animal rescue), both of Faribault.
Marie Helen Lenz was born on August 29, 1939 in Le Center, MN to Joseph Garvin and Elizabeth (Kennedy) Garvin. Marie was married to John C. Caulfield of St. Paul, had 6 children and later married Raymond Lenz in 1977 and resided in Faribault.
Marie was a loving foster-care parent for over 30 years. Marie loved to garden, shop, and play cards with family. Marie had a great sense of humor and had a life-long passion for animals.
She is survived by five children, Robin Caulfield of St. Paul, Patricia (and John) Gunderson of St. Paul, John (and Melanie) Caulfield of Minnetrista, K.C. (and Dave) Walsh, and Joe Caulfield of Faribault; by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister Patricia Caron of Faribault and sister-in-law, Bonnie Garvin of Le Center.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, step mother, Annie (Kennedy) Garvin, brother, Joe Garvin, son, Thomas Caulfield, ex-husband John Caulfield, husband of 25 years, Raymond Lenz and brother-in-law, Roland Caron.
