Marian K. Fruechte, age 88, of Faribault, MN, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the District One Hospital in Faribault.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Faribault. Interment will be held at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.
Visitation will be held at Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. and on Thursday for one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be directed to Christ Lutheran Church in Faribault, MN.
Marian Katherine, the daughter of F. Arthur and Nina (Peterson) Nelson, was born August 9, 1928 in Braham, MN. She grew up on a farm west of Braham and attended a 2 room country school through 8th grade. Marian graduated from Braham High school in 1946. After graduation she worked at 1st National Bank, Braham, and State Farm Insurance Company in St. Paul, MN. She then enrolled in a 12 month Practical Nursing course at Miller Hospital, St. Paul, (now United Hospital) and graduated January of 1951 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed at Miller Hospital and St. John's Hospital, St. Paul, MN until June 17, 1961 when she married Orville R. Fruechte at Siloa Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Braham. After their marriage Marian worked at District One Hospital for a short time. She was member of the St. Lucas Auxiliary and volunteered at St. Lucas Care Center for 17 years. She also volunteered for the Red Cross bloodmobile for 15 years. Marian enjoyed traveling, photography, flower gardening and the great outdoors.
She is survived by her children, Marlys Stuhrk (Richard) of Faribalut, MN and Noel Fruechte of Missoula, MT; grandchildren Anna and Nina; Sisters Dolores Bengtson, Long Prairie, MN, Ardis Niemi, White Bear Lake, MN, and Shirley (Ted) Anderson, Plymouth, MN; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orville R. Fruechte; parents F. Arthur and Nina (Peterson) Nelson, brother-in-laws, Raymond Niemi and Carl Bengtson and grandmother Charlotte Johanna.
