Margaret Edel

Margaret "Marge" Edel, age 89, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at the Sterling House in Faribault.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Margaret Mary was born on May 16, 1925 in Lonsdale, MN to Frank K. and Josephine (Sticha) Malecha. She graduated from Lonsdale High School with the class of 1943 and worked as a nanny for the Headmaster's family at Shattuck Schools. Marge was united in marriage to Alvin J. Edel on February 23, 1946 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. She was a homemaker for her family and also worked at Munsingwear in Montgomery for 13 years. Shortly after she and Alvin moved from the farm to Faribault, she worked at Payant Drug Store for 19 years. Alvin preceded her in death on November 29, 2005. Marge enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, and playing cards. She had a passion for music and often played the piano, sang, and enjoyed dancing. She took great pride in knowing she instilled the love of music in her family. Marge enjoyed using her talents as a seamstress in her home, tailoring many items for her family and others. She often volunteered her time at District One Hospital, Moose Lodge, and her church in many different capacities.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Richard) Archambault, Donald (Alice) Edel, and Randy (Shannon) Edel, all of Faribault; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Norbert (June) Malecha of Faribault; sister-in-law, Julie Malecha of Northfield; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; parents, Frank K. and Josephine; granddaughter, Shari Edel; two sisters, Eleanor Kajer and Mary Alice Green; and brother, Francis Malecha.
