Lucille Smisek

Lucille M. Smisek, age 99, died peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Drive) in Faribault. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to the St. Lucas Care Center Bus Fund in memory of Lucille.

Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.

Lucille Mary Becker, the daughter of Mathias and Gertrude (Wagner) Becker, was born on February 2, 1914 at her family farm in Forest Township, Rice County, MN. She attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1932. On October 22, 1935 she was united in marriage to Sylvester Smisek at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Mr. Smisek preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1994. Lucille was a homemaker all of her life, staying at home to raise their family. She was very well known for her baking. She was an excellent seamstress for her family and always had an open door policy, all were welcome. She enjoyed going to card parties and also served at many funeral lunches for her parish.

She is survived by her six children, Wayne (Katie) Smisek of Faribault, MN, JoAnn Plaisance of Rogers, AR, Jim (Kathy) Smisek of Faribault, MN, Judy Long of Knoxville, TN, Elizabeth (Art) Paquette of Faribault, MN and Mary Kay Smisek of Owatonna, MN; by 23 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren; by her nephew, Dale (Joni) Becker of Faribault and by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Dorothy Cleland and two brothers, Joe and Steve Becker.
