Louis Martin

Louis E. "Martin, age 82, of Faribault, MN, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2018, at his home following an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, with Bernadette Tatge, pastoral minister of Divine Mercy Church, officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault, at a later date.

Memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Parker Kohl Funeral Home and on Thursday for one hour prior to the services.

Louis Elmer was born on May 25, 1936 in Grandview, TN, to Howard and Helen (Larson) Martin. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. Lou was united in marriage to Leola Scheiber on February 17, 1969. After moving to Faribault he first worked for Standard Oil gas station, and then worked for Faribault Foods for 35 years, retiring as Field Supervisor. For many years, Lou was active in bowling leagues. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, trap shooting, four-wheeling, and golfing. Most of all, he cherished time with his family and watching the kids sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Leola Martin of Faribault; children, Tamara (Jon) Chappuis and Todd Martin, both of Faribault; daughter-in-law, Katie Martin of Faribault; grandchildren, Brandon, Abby, Aaron, and Cohen; three children from his previous marriage, Tim Martin, Scott (Jean) Martin, and Wendy Heldberg, grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Patsy Burdette, Barbara Jo Lemons, and Judy Nunley, all of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Sharon Anderson (Earl Schultz); and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Helen; parents-in-law, Leo and Marie Scheiber; brothers-in-law, Russell Lemons, Sam Burdette, and Donald Scheiber; and close family friend, Tom Kyle.
