Louis Kopischke

Louis F. "Luke" Kopischke, age 98 of Janesville, died on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Janesville Nursing Home.   Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9th at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin, officiating. Interment will be in the Janesville Cemetery.   Visitation will be held on Monday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville is handling arrangements.   Louis Ferdinand was born on October 26, 1913 in Freedom Township, Waseca County to Charles and Adeline (Boettcher) Kopischke. He was baptized November 23, 1913 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Alma City by the Rev. J.E. Schaefer. In November of 1919 his parents moved from the Waldorf Area to a farm near Janesville. Luke was confirmed April 10, 1927 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville by the Rev. Martin Winter. He attended Trinity Lutheran School for 7 years and public schools for 2 years. On June 8, 1937 he was united in marriage to Violet A. "Tootie" Dimmel by the Rev. Otto F. Krause at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. They farmed in the Janesville Area until moving into town in 1973.  Luke has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville since November of 1919. Over the years he held various positions including Trustee and chairman of the Finance Committee. He was also active in the community where he helped start the Smiths Mill-Janesville Sportsman's Club. Luke was also a member of the Farm Bureau, and served as director of the Janesville Meals on Wheels Program.    Luke is survived by his daughter, Arlene (Jim) Cummins of Rochester; grandchildren, Lori (Tracy) Holland of Ellendale, Lana (Rick) Thompsen of Ellendale, Bill Kopischke of Janesville, Deb Vogelsang of Janesville, LaDonna (Mark) Fallen of Medina, Lance (Anne) Cummins of Owatonna, and Lee Cummins of Rochester; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild; brother, Alvin (Dorothy) Kopischke of Janesville; daughter-in-law, Dona Kopischke of Mankato; sisters-in-law, Delilah Kopischke of Janesville and Marcella Kopischke of Mankato.   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Violet "Tootie"; son, Charles Kopischke; brothers, Edward (Agnes) Kopischke, Arthur Kopischke, and Paul Kopischke; by his daughter-in-law, Deanna Kopischke.   Casket bearers are his grandchildren: Lori Holland, Lana Thompsen, LaDonna Fallen, Lance Cummins, Lee Cummins, Bill Kopischke and Deb Vogelsang.
