Lorraine Ziemer

Lorraine H. Ziemer, age 79, of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.

Lorraine (Rainie), the daughter of Art and Elsie (Niemoth) Ziemer, was born on January 4, 1941 in Dunnell, MN. She graduated from Sherburne High School and later obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Southwest Minnesota State. Lorraine then went on to get her Master’s degree at Mankato State University, graduating in 1977.  Lorraine worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Minnesota for 31 years.  Lorraine was always an independent and self-sufficient woman, despite being wheelchair bound at an early age.  She never let the disability stop her and instead used it as an inspiration for people she helped at work.

Lorraine was like a second mother to her nephews as they grew up.  She never missed a sporting, school or other personal event.  She had a wonderful sense of humor, smile, laugh and was always upbeat and enthusiastic.  Lorraine also volunteered at many different charities over the years.

She is survived by her nephews, Jason Grund of Hopkins, MN and Jody (Jessica) Grund of Faribault.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Joyce and Beverly Ziemer; and brother William Ziemer
