Lorraine was bornon July 3, 1922 to Raymond and Vera (Grunske) Hoechst in Minnesota Lake, Minnesota. Lorraine was united in marriage to Edward E. "Bud" Schmidt at Sacred Heart Church in Waseca, Minnesota on November 4, 1942. Lorraine was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca and a longtime member of the Winona Council of Catholic Women. After Bud's retirement in 1982, they built their retirement home immediately east of Waseca and very much enjoyed their home and garden, along with trips out West. While Lorraine supported many causes throughout her life, she and her husband were particularly proud of supporting their church and leaving a lasting gift for the benefit of the Waseca community by establishing the Bud Schmidt Trucking Fund through the Waseca Area Foundation, with this fund being undesignated, meaning that the earnings would be used wherever most needed in the community. Lorraine is survived by her three children and their families: Mary Jean (Dale) Oliver of Lake City; Robert E. (Mary Lou Kinkade) Schmidt of Waseca; and Maureen A. (Larry) Schulte of Prior Lake; Paul (Staci) Oliver, Andrew (Tracy) Oliver; Brandyn Oliver, Jesse Oliver, Tori Oliver, Alex Oliver, and Cade Oliver, all of Lake City; Jim (Jennifer) Kinkade, Trystin Kinkade, of Waseca; and sisters, Donna Wurster and Darlene Glaser. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward E. "Bud" Schmidt; brother, Kenneth, and sisters Fern and Janet; and two grandchildren, Thomas in 1976 and Daniel in 1982.
