Lola Staley

July 9, 1937 — December 22, 2015

Lola J. Staley, age 78, of Waseca died on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca with Pastor David Baumgarn officiating. Interment will be held at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Lola Jean was born on July 9, 1937 in Faribault, Minnesota to Hugo and Cora (Meinke) Preuss. She attended and graduated from Faribault High School in 1955. Lola was married to Gene Griffith and they had four children together. She helped on the farm and worked at Owatonna Bus Company and Brown Printing before retiring from Truth Hardware in Owatonna. On September 1, 1979, she was remarried to John Staley at Peace Lutheran Church in Faribault. They celebrated 28 years of marriage together. Lola was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was well known for her amazing peanut brittle, jewelry, and card making.

Lola is survived by three children, Terry (Sarah) Griffith of Claremont, Debra (Steve) Fields of Andover, and Scott Griffith of Waterville; step son, Dave (Sara) Staley of New Richland; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Lorna Schmitz and Helen Shockley and by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John; daughter, Caroline Van Guilder; and sisters, Delores Pike and Janet Dunker.
