Lois Scherfenberg

Lois L. Scherfenberg, age 95 of Faribault, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.             Memorial services will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault with the Rev. Roger Grafenstein, pastor of Hope United Methodist Church in Faribault officiating.             Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.             The family prefers that memorials be directed to Hope United Methodist Church in Faribault.             Lois Lucille Hammond, the daughter of Edward and Della (Love) Hammond, was born on July 14, 1914 in St. Cloud, MN. Lois attended St. Cloud Tech High School and graduated with the class of 1932. After high school she attended St. Cloud State University and earned her Teaching Degree in Education. In 1938 she was united in marriage to Wallace Scherfenberg in St. Cloud. Lois was physical education teacher for a great many years at Tech High in St. Cloud, MN and was responsible for starting the girl's sports program. She is recognized in their Hall of Fame. Upon retirement for Lois and Wallace they traveled extensively with their motor home and settled in south Texas, where they lived until Wallace passed away in 2001 after 63 years of marriage. In 2002, Lois moved to Faribault to be closer to her son and his family. Lois was an outdoor's person and loved to go camping and snowmobiling.             She is survived by two children, Dona Stuewe of Austin, TX and Dirk (Nancy) Scherfenberg of Faribault; she has many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild; she is also survived by two sisters, Jean Johnson of Wadena, MN and Shirley "Pat" (Bill) Campbell of Danbury, WI and by nieces and nephews.             She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her sister, Marion Jensen.
