Leonard J. Trahan, age 91, of Faribault, MN, passed away, Monday, August 21, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.
Visitation will be held at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, on Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Leonard Jerome was born on September 30, 1925 in Marshall, MN to Henry and Minnie (Driessen) Trahan. He served in the U.S. Army and received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal-Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1947. Leonard was married to Genevieve Kubes on July 26, 1949 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. Leonard worked for 33 years at McQuay's (Daikin) in Faribault until his retirement. He was a member of the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles and the American Legion Post 43. Leonard enjoyed golfing, watching Minnesota sports teams - Viking, Twins, and Gophers, and camping with his family.
He is survived by his children, Jim Trahan of Lafayette, CO, Steve (Val) Trahan of Bisbee, AZ, Debra (Dale) Rech of Warsaw, Scott (Stacey) Trahan of Faribault, and Todd (Kathy) Trahan of Faribault; seven grandchildren, Jason Trahan, Derrick Rech, Dustin Rech, Andrew Trahan, Dillon Trahan, Hannah Trahan, and Samuel Trahan; five great grandchildren, Sawyer, Tosh, Kahler, Chloe, and Ryan; siblings, Janet (Jerry) Silkey of Northfield, Elsie Forcelle of Brainerd, MN, and Gene (Doreen) Trahan of Faribault; special friend, Jeannine Bongers of Faribault; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve; parents, Henry and Minnie; two sisters, Rachel Waskosky and Evelyn Iverson; and two brothers, Theodore Trahan and Henry Trahan.
