Leonard Sorbel Sr.

Leonard N. Sorbel Sr., age 90, of Faribault, MN passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Rev. Mark Johnson, pastor, officiating.  Interment will be at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, on Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Leonard Norman, the son of Ingebold and Helga (Johnson) Sorbel, was born on March 30, 1929 in St. James, MN.  He was married to Goldiemae Vincent on October 31, 1948.  Leonard was a truckdriver for 20 years and later worked for Jerome Foods.  For many years he was maintenance engineer at 3M Corporation in St. Paul.  Leonard enjoyed hunting and was a very intelligent person who could invent and build many things, including tractors.  He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends and was a very generous person who often would give to many organizations such as Easter Seals, St. Jude’s Hospital, and Veterans organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie Sorbel of Faribault; children, Karen (Dale Sr.) Van Erp, Larry Sorbel, Michelle Sorbel, and Brian Sorbel, all of Faribault; grandchildren, Dale Van Erp, Martin Van Erp Jr., William Sorbel, Alex (Madison) Van Erp, Paige Sailor, Ashley Van Erp, Dustin Anderson, Miranda Meyer, Adam Sorbel, Jr. Sorbel, Janie (Adrian) Ortiz, Angie Van Erp, and Marie Greybuffalo; many great and great great grandchildren; sister, Vernell Sorbel of St. James; sister-in-law, Hella Sorbel; two great friends, Bob Larson and Kevin Stadler; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Leonard Sorbel Jr. and Kenneth Sorbel; infant daughter; granddaughter, Lisa Meyer; great granddaughter, Megan Darlington; and brothers, Eldon, Glen, Irving, Clinton, and Dick Sorbel.
