Leonard J. Rezac, age 94, of Faribault, MN, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Faribault Senior Living.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Military honors will be provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault at a later date.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
Leonard Joseph, the son of Joseph and Mary (Trnka) Rezac, was born on April 1, 1925 in Webster Township, Rice County, MN. He graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School with the class of 1943. Leonard then served in the U.S. Army 70th Division in the field artillery during WWII in Europe. During his military service he coached football, basketball, and softball. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was married to Gladys Tupy and they were later divorced. Leonard was married to Betty Saint Hansen on November 24, 1979 at the Fort Snelling Chapel. Leonard worked at McQuay’s International in Faribault from 1955 – 1990. He and Betty spent 22 years wintering in Arizona, working craft shows selling the crafts they made.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Rezac; children, Donna (Barry) Cummans, Colleen Goedtel, Mark Rezac, Sharon DeBoer, and Sandra Hassler; step-sons, Duane Hansen and Don Hansen; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary; sister, Martha Mary Giefer; grandson, Ryan Boran; and great granddaughter, Abigail Boran.
