Leonard Headline, age 68, of Faribault, passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, at St. Lawrence in Faribault. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Faribault with military honors provided by the Lonsdale American Legion. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services. Leonard Bernard Headline, the son of Charles and Margaret (Bushey) Headline, was born on May 27, 1940 in Faribault. Len attended Faribault High School and in 1958 enlisted in the United States Army and served until 1964. On August 31, 1963 he was united in marriage to Kathleen Perron in Minneapolis, MN. Len worked for J&E Earll Manufacturing in Bloomington and later in Lakeville for 32 years, the first 17 years he worked in the plant and the last 15 years of work were occupied by truck driving for the company until his retirement in 2002. For 26 years Len was a member of the Faribault Auxiliary Police Force and was also a member of the Southern Minnesota Policeman's Association. Len was also a member of the Lonsdale American Legion and enjoyed his job of umpiring softball games from 1965-1976 for the Faribault Park and Recreation. Len enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and taking them to garage sales and finding treasures for them. Riding his Harley was something that always made Len happy. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and going fishing and hunting. For many years at Christmas Len and Kathy were Santa and Mrs. Claus for many families and companies in the Faribault area and brought great joy to many children. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen Headline of Faribault; by three children, Robin Headline of Waseca, Charles Headline of Rochester and Dawn Nuetzman and special friend Randy Christey of Owatonna; by six grandchildren, Mitchell Headline, Casey Headline, Ashley Nuetzman, Sky Headline, Paige Dahms and Alexis Nuetzman; by two great grandchildren, Catrina Headline and Leonard Headline; by his sister, Charlene (Clarence) Brage of Owatonna; by his mother in law, Elfriede Perron of Faribault and nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James T. Headline and his father in law, Marvin Perron.
