Leona V. Strunk, age 103 of Janesville, died on Monday, October 31, 2011 in San Bernardino, CA. Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Reverend Dr. Larry Griffin, officiating. Interment will be held in the Janesville Cemetery. The Strunk Family will greet friends on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Friday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Trinity Lutheran School, 501 N. Main St., Janesville, MN 56048. Leona Verna was born on a farm near Elysian, Minnesota, in LeSueur County on July 15, 1908 to Arthur and Mary (Block) Roemhildt. Leona attended LeSueur County country school, and Cleveland High School. She was united in marriage to George John Strunk of Janesville on June 4, 1930 at German Lake Lutheran Church. Leona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, and its Ladies Aid and Altar Guild. Leona also enjoyed her involvement in Mother's Study Club, Busy Fingers, Trinity Widow's Group, 500 Card Club, bowling league, and her Monday morning coffee group. Leona is survived by her daughter Jane (Gill) Snyder of San Bernardino, CA, and her son George Strunk of Janesville; by 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; by her brother Dale Roemhildt of Elysian, and her sister-in-law Alice Roemhildt of Waterville. She was preceded in death by her husband George John Strunk in 1978; by three brothers Harley, Marlow, and Clarence Roemhildt; by her sister Luella Amberg, daughter-in-law Elaine Strunk, and granddaughter Susie Gahler.
