Leona R. (Kramer) McShane, age 89 of Waseca, died on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at her home in Waseca. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 4th at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Martin Schaefer, Celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 8 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca and will continue on Wednesday afternoon for one hour prior to services at church. There will be a 4 pm Rosary and 8 pm parish prayer service Tuesday, at the funeral home. Leona Rose was born on June 28, 1921 in Waseca, Minnesota to John and Margaret (Klein) Kramer. She was a 1939 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waseca. She was united in marriage to Joseph Arthur McShane on July 2, 1941 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Leona and Joe raised their family and farmed in Meriden Township, Steele County. In 1986 they retired from farming and moved into Waseca. Leona and Joe were active members of the Waseca Area Senior Citizens Center where they were involved in the Senior Workshop for several years. They also traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Leona enjoyed making beautiful wedding cakes for more than 40 years. She also enjoyed playing cards and jigsaw puzzles, loved playing bingo, and had a large teddy bear collection. Most recently she enjoyed connecting with her grandchildren though Facebook! She is survived by her children, Pat McShane of Waseca, Peg (Mike) Lawrence of Mankato, Alice McShane of Waseca, Deb (Ron) Meissner of North Mankato, Colleen McShane (fiancé Bruce Brown) of Burnsville, Joe McShane of Waseca, Mike (Sigrid) McShane of San Antonio, Tom (Betty) McShane of New Richland, Gene (Diane) McShane of Waseca, and Kevin McShane of Waseca; by her son-in-law Mike Murtaugh of Albert Lea; by 22 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; by her brother Ernest (Alvena) Kramer and sister Dolly Powell, of Waseca; by her sisters-in-law Elaine Kramer and Leona M. McShane, of Waseca, and Joyce McShane of Fairmont; by her brother-in-law Frank (Susan) McShane of Edina. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1993, son Robert in 1960, daughter Lori in 1960, and daughter Geralyn Murtaugh in 2010; by her parents and 9 brothers and sisters; by her great grandchild Penny Lawrence.
