Lawrence Yankee

November 20, 1927 — March 12, 2011

Lawrence E. Yankee, age 83, of Faribault, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at his home.             Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.             Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services.             Lawrence Edward, the son of Herman and Agnes (Lenway) Yankee, was born on November 20, 1927 in Faribault. Lawrence attended school in Faribault and after his schooling served in the U.S. Army during World War II.   After his service time Lawrence worked at Fleckenstein Brewery for many years and then worked construction for Lee and Joyce Construction Co. in Rochester, MN. Lawrence was an avid outdoor sportsman. He enjoyed going for rides watching deer and nature and also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was very good at it. He also liked watching the Twins and Vikings on TV.             He is survived by three nieces, Deanna David and Linda (Herb) Grems, both of Faribault, MN and Delores (Gary) Fessenden of Wyoming, MN; he is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.             He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Donald, Clyde and Robert Yankee and by two nephews, Ernest and Robert David.
