Lawrence Bussert

Lawrence J. Bussert Sr., age 76, of Faribault, MN, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault following an extended illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, with Fr. Victor Valencia, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Patrick Cemetery in Shieldsville.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.

Lawrence Joseph was born on January 9, 1940 in Faribault to John and Cecilia (Keilen) Bussert. He attended Faribault High School and served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 1957 - April 1958. Larry worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver for several carriers and later at Faribault Foods until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43 and the Faribault Moose Lodge. Larry loved hunting, fishing, and small engine repair. For many years he operated his own lawn mower repair shop. He was a very generous man and considerate of others.

He is survived by his children, Brenda (Mitch) Vincent of Faribault, Don "Buzz" (Jodi) Bussert of California, Connie (Bob) Gersemehl of Faribault, Char Schroeder (fiancé, Don Iverson) of Florida, Darrell "Buck" Bussert of Inver Grove Heights, MN, James Anderson of Kenyon, MN, Mike "Buzzy" (Karen) Bussert of Faribault, Tony Anderson of Faribault, and Troy Bussert of Lonsdale, MN; step-daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Moriarity of Morristown, MN, Carmen (Rich) Breyer of Faribault, and Sharon (Rich) Schumann of Morristown; step-son, Tom (April) Clark of Arizona; 28 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; brothers, Francis (Diane) Bussert, and Bill (Mary) Bussert, both of Faribault; sister-in-law, Rita Bussert of Faribault; special friend, JoAnn Bussert of Faribault; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cecelia; sons, Lawrence Jr. and Roger Bussert; brother, Paul Bussert; and sister, Rose (Harold) Johnson.
