Lawrence Bjornson

Lawrence "Larry" Bjornson, age 63, of Mankato, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in Mankato.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Medo Evangelical Lutheran Church (14193 626th Ave., Mapleton) in Medo Township, Blue Earth County, with Pastor Laurie Stoeger, officiating. Interment will be held at the church cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be held at the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday morning.

Lawrence Phillip, the son of Clarence and Louise (Sodeman) Bjornson, was born on February 20, 1951 in Mankato. He was raised in Pemberton and attended the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf and graduated with the class of 1971. Larry then began working as a welder for Midwest Electric in 1972 and was forced to retire early in 2000 due to heath concerns.

Over the years, Larry enjoyed traveling to Europe, Australia, Norway, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Austria, and other various places in the United States. Larry was also very active in many deaf organizations throughout Minnesota and enjoyed participating in many of the different programs they organized. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his siblings, Viola Gunsolus of Pemberton, Harlan Bjornson of Alma City, LouElla Schroeder of Atwater, MN, Glen (Carole) Bjornson of Hugo, Percy (Debbie) Bjornson of Savage, Delilah (Gerald) Kollos of St. James, and JoAnne (Max) Thompson of Sun City, AZ; his many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his grandparents.
