LaVerne W. "Ernie" Kanzenbach

LaVerne W. “Ernie” Kanzenbach, age 86, of Faribault, MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at his home.

LaVerne Wilmer, the son of Wilmer and Gladys (Buehrer) Kanzenbach, was born on October 6, 1938, in Grafton, Iowa. He graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1956, then served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1959. Ernie was married to Janet Beaupre in October of 1966. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1969. He later was married to Patricia Newcombe on August 4, 1973. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2016. Ernie was a dedicated employee of the City of Faribault, working in the water department for 33 years. He enjoyed his time as a member of the Faribault Eagles Club, and the Faribault Moose Lodge and was known for having a great sense of humor. Most of all, Ernie cherished spending time with his grandchildren, Jacob and Ally, attending many of their activities.

He is survived by his son, Todd Kanzenbach (Sherri); grandchildren, Jacob and Ally Kanzenbach; sisters, Mary Bongers, and Pam Subra (Jeff); and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Janet, and 2nd wife, Patricia; parents, Wilmer and Gladys; sister, Patricia Dahl; and brothers, Robert Kanzenbach and David Kanzenbach.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21st from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Faribault Hospice Foundation, or the donor’s choice in memory of Ernie.
