Larry J. Voegele, age 74, of Faribault, died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, July 25, 2011 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview in Minneapolis following a sudden illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny with the Reverend Ronald Dahlheimer, officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Larry James Voegele, the son of George Sr. and Cecelia (Thibault) Voegele, was born on May 28, 1937 in Faribault. He attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1955. On November 24, 1956, Larry was united in marriage to Barbara Schultz at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. He was employed by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Voegel's Creamery, McQuay International, Heselton Construction and later owned L. J. Voegele Excavating. Larry was grateful for his additional thirteen years of life after receiving a liver transplant in 1998. After his retirement, Larry and Barb enjoyed traveling in his coach, riding his trike, fishing, collecting old classic cars and spending time with family and friends, whom he will be greatly missed by. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Sweet Pea) of Faribault; his five children, Jay (Michele) Voegele of Faribault, Pamela Benson of Faribault, Jean (Rick) Gephart of Lakeville, Julie (Mark) Rezac of Elysian, Jerry (Sharon) Voegele of Morristown; by his 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; by his siblings, Delbert (Phyllis) Voegele of Morristown and Sheila Voegele of Faribault; by his sister-in-law Susan Voegele of Faribault and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George Jr. and by his son-in-law Raymond Benson in 2006
