Kurtis J. Steinhauer, age 69 of Janesville, died suddenly on Friday, October 3, 2008 at his home in Janesville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin and Vicar Mark Loder officiating. Interment will be in the Smiths Mill Cemetery following services. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville and will continue on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. Kurtis James was born on January 28, 1939 in Jackson, Minnesota to Robert Theide and Laura (Young) Steinhauer. He graduated from Henry Sibley High School in West St. Paul in 1957. From 1957-1960 Kurtis served his country in the U.S. Army. After his tour of duty, he attended the University of Minnesota and the William Mitchell Law School. After college Kurtis worked for Robertshaw Controls in Richmond VA, and Garden Grove CA, and eventually became the company CEO. He owned many businesses over the years including, Herold off sale Liquor in Janesville, Lindner Liquor in Waseca and the Windmill Bar and Grill in Mapleton. Kurtis was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, and the Waseca American Legion Post 228. Kurtis loved music and singing karaoke. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, especially with his son Billy, watching the Minnesota Vikings and time spent with family and friends. He is survived by Lori Blasing, Darlene Steinhauer, Felicia Steinhauer, Billy Steinhauer, Eric Blasing and Michal Finch; Chad Blasing and Crystal Korbel; Kenda Blasing and Chad Schlueter; Bailey, Brooklyn and Zachary Blasing; Robert and Connie Stankey; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Laura; and his brother Bill.
