Kenneth Carpenter

Kenneth Carpenter, age 71, of Faribault, MN, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016, at the Frederic Care and Rehabilitation Center in Frederic, WI, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister, officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Kenneth Joseph, the son of Bernard and Anna (Maas) Carpenter, was born on August 22, 1945 in Faribault, MN. He attended Bethlehem Academy High School and graduated with the class of 1964. After high school, Ken served in the U.S. Army and after his honorable discharge attended Dunwoody for their carpentry program. Ken started his career as a carpenter with Bob Cashin in Faribault. He worked as a Union Carpenter for several companies, but retired after 22 years with McGough Construction in St. Paul. In retirement Ken worked at Byerly's in Woodbury and was very well known to many of the customers there. Ken's pride and joy was his farm and he loved being outside working there. Ken also enjoyed gardening and his animals. He always enjoyed times when his family was all together and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren. Ken was a very charitable man and was known to help anyone in a time of need.

He is survived by his three children, Dion Carpenter of Prescott, WI, Shane Carpenter of Faribault, MN and Angie Wenholz of Luck, WI; by four grandchildren, Kayla (Dillon) Teeselink, Samantha (Randy) Stene), Jake Wenholz and Joseph Carpenter; by three siblings, Patricia David of Northfield, MN, Janice Borgstahl of Faribault, MN and Roger Carpenter of Faribault, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Mary Jean Wedin.
