Katie Zika

"Katie" Katherine Zika, age 34, of Bloomington and formerly of Waseca, died on Monday, November 23, 2015 due to injuries sustained in a car accident in Carver County.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Gregory Leif officiating.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The visitation will continue on Saturday for one hour prior to services at the church.

Katherine Elizabeth, daughter of David and Lisa (Schneider) Zika, was born on October 26, 1981 in Waseca, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from Waseca High School in 2000. She then attended St. Cloud State University and the Art Institute in Minneapolis to earn her degree in graphic design. Most recently, Katie worked as a graphic designer for E&M Consulting in Chaska. She was very involved in music and athletics in high school and college. She was a very positive, humble person who loved making people laugh. Katie enjoyed campfires and spending time at their cabin on Lake Tetonka. She especially enjoyed spending time with her boyfriend, Elliott and all of her friends and family.

Katie is survived by her parents, Dave and Lisa Zika of Waseca; brother, Marc (Shannon) Zika of Mankato; boyfriend, Elliott Smith of Bloomington; nephews, Sean, Evan, Ryan, and Nathan Zika; grandmothers, Jeanne Schneider and Adeline Zika of Waseca; her cat, Oaty; and by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, John Schneider and Robert W. Zika.
