Kathleen R. Nelson

Kathleen Nelson, age 76, of Faribault, MN passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at her home following an extended illness.

Kathleen Ruth, the daughter of Stuart and Ruth (Kelm) Thibodeau, was born on May 9, 1947 in Faribault, MN. Kathy grew up in Faribault and attended Faribault High School, graduating with the Class of 1965. She worked at the State Hospital as an aide while raising her children from her first marriage. She was united in marriage to Dennis Nelson on October, 22, 1977 in Faribault. They ran Hill Top Farm Dairy together for many years. Kathy took care of many of the household and farming tasks, including baking, gardening, canning, quilting, sewing, embroidering, and taking care of the various animals on the farm. She enjoyed spending time with her family and helping to raise many grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Dennis; children, Dan (Jennifer) Bauer, Teri (fiancé, Rick Thomson) Bauer, James (Kelly) Bauer, and Kenneth Nelson; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Zielske; brothers, John (Sheri) Thibodeau and James Thibodeau; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Donald and Patrick Bauer; sister Carmen Feyereisn; and brother, Rick Thibodeau.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Faribault with Fr. Cory Rohlfing officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at the church prior to Mass.
