Karen Westphal

Karen Westphal, age 55, of Janesville passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Laurel's Peak Rehabilitation Center in Mankato following an extended illness.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Pastor Larry Griffin and Pastor Paul Muther officiating. Interment will be held at St. John's Trinity Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County.

Memorial visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Arrangements are being completed by Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville.

Karen Lynn, daughter of Eldred and Lois (Hartwick) Barbnecht, was born on February 26, 1960 in Waseca, Minnesota. She attended Trinity Lutheran School where she met the love of her life, Jeff Westphal. She then attended and graduated from Janesville High School in 1978. Following her schooling, she worked at Herter's of Waseca. Karen was then united in marriage to Jeff Westphal on May 17, 1980 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. She worked as a homemaker for most of her life. Karen enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing, hunting pheasants, and listening to music. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Karen is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jeff Westphal of Janesville; children, Nikki Westphal of Colorado Springs, CO and Jesse Westphal of Knoxville, IA; brothers, Alan Barbnecht, David (Vicki) Barbnecht, Mark (Lois) Barbnecht, and Kent Barbnecht, all of Janesville; several nieces and nephews; and by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eldred and Lois Barbnecht, and by her mother and father-in-law, Harold and Arlene Westphal.
