Karen Sanderson Buschow, age 71, of Pemberton, MN, passed away peacefully at her home, on Monday, January 5, 2015, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Medo Lutheran Church in Pemberton, MN. Interment will be held at the Medo Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to VINE in Mankato, Mankato Area Hospice or MRCI-Thrift Store where she spent countless wonderful hours, recycling and reusing.

Karen Marie, the daughter of Archie and Violet (Anderson) Baumann, was born on April 12, 1943 in Bagley, MN. As she was growing up, Karen's family moved several times because of her father's work. She graduated from Tracy High School with the class of 1961. After high school she attended Minnesota State Mankato and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and would later complete her Master's Degree. Karen taught in the U.S. Peace Corps from 1965-1967. She also taught at St. Casimirs in Wells, Pemberton Elementary, and JWP Elementary. She was most proud of her Peace Corps Service, living and teaching among the rural people in Tanah Merah, Kelantan, Malaysia, where her neighbors were Gods chosen people, Malay, Chinese, Indian and Thai. On October 16, 1992 she was united in marriage to Lonnie Buschow at Blue Mounds State Park in Luverne, MN. Karen enjoyed planning trips and together they journeyed to different parts of the world with good friends in retirement. Karen also had been involved as a Girl Scout Leader, as a Sunday School Teacher and organist at Medo Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Buschow of Pemberton; by daughters, Tanah (Layne) Janike of Waldorf, Amy (Ken) Nielsen of Lakeland; sons, Dan (Heidi) Sanderson of Rockford and Steven Buschow of Mankato; by eight grandchildren, Brandon Janike, Zachary Janike, Joshua Janike, Brooklyn Sanderson, Wilson Sanderson, Brock Nielsen, Jamie Nielsen and Mila Nielsen; by her parents, Archie and Violet Baumann of Janesville; by her brother, Dennis (Diane) Baumann of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters, Kay (Bud) Cochran of Tracy, Debbie (Chuck) Amunrud of Spring Valley and Connie (Lonny) Piche of Maplewood; by her brother in law, Wayne (Bonnie) Sanderson of Siren, WI and by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bruce Wilson Sanderson in 1986.
