Justin Alexander Meyer, age 4, of Faribault, the son of Alex Meyer and Melissa Russell, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family, following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services. Memorials are preferred. Alexander Meyer was born on January 25, 2006 in Minneapolis, MN. He was born prematurely at 26 weeks and weighed 1 lb 14 ounces. Because of this he was born with several medical issues. These issues never changed Justin's attitude and he was a fighter his whole life. He had a smile that was contagious and would light up a room. He touched many people in different ways even if he hadn't met them. Justin's family is very happy that he is free of pain and is walking and talking now for the first time on his birthday. He is survived by his parents, Alex Meyer and Melissa Russell, both of Faribault; by his brother, Triston Russell of Faribault; by two sisters, Hailey Meyer of Faribault and Kaylyn Jessica Armstrong of Faribault; by his grandparents, Donald Matakis, Pam Russell and Harold Russell, all of Faribault; by his great grandparents, Patricia Caron and Donald Russell, both of Faribault and MaryLinn Lum of San Diego, CA; by his aunts and uncles, Alison Ziegler of Faribault, Elizabeth and Eric Brandt of North St. Paul, Jody and Kevin Englby of Montgomery, Mark Meyer of Faribault, David Meyer of Tacoma, WA and Mary Doty and Bill Peterson of Faribault; by special nurse friends, Lindsey Culver and Terri Schmidt and by many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Barbara Meyer, his great grandpa, Roland Caron and by his twin cousins, Noah and Abigail Brandt.
