John D. Tuthill Jr. age 64 of Faribault, died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the Faribault Commons Nursing Home in Faribault following an extended illness. Private family services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis with military honors. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Monday from 4 to 8:00 p.m. John Douglas Tuthill Jr., the son of John Sr. and Joan (Sybilrud) Tuthill was born on June 17, 1944 in Waseca, MN. He attended Owatonna High School and graduated with the class of 1962. Following high school John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1968. On January 3, 1974 he was united in marriage to Gayle Johnson in Faribault. They were later divorced. John worked with his family at the Evergreen Knoll in Faribault for several years, then purchased The Villager Bar and Restaurant in Waterville. Later John worked as a salesman for ABC Bus Company and Steffen's Chevrolet. Because of health problems John had to stop working. John start dialysis in 2001 and the family would like to thank the staff at DaVita Dialysis for the kindness and care given to him. John was an active member of the VFW Post 1562 in Faribault and the American Legion Post 43. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle "Micky" Tuthill and Bryan Davis of Faribault and Stefanie Tuthill of South Range, WI; by four siblings, Bonnie (Jerry) Lenker McGill of Bloomington, MN, Scott (Jeannie) Tuthill of Savage, MN, Bob (Jodi) Tuthill of Waterville, MN and Barbara A. Stadler of Morristown, MN; by his former spouse Gayle Tuthill of Faribault and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
