John K. Stopski, age 56 of Prior Lake, MN and formerly of Faribault, MN, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 19, 2013 as a result of a construction accident in Minnetonka, MN.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2013, from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Morristown American Legion Post 149, 101 Division St., Morristown.
Private family interment will be at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
John Kenneth was born on October 30, 1956 in Shakopee, MN to Albert and Bernice (Williams) Stopski. He graduated from New Prague High School. John worked at various construction jobs, and also owned and operated his own business, Stopski Construction for many years. Over his lifetime he lived in various places, most recently in Prior Lake. He took pride in his work and loved playing video games, was a big Packers fan, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. John served in the U.S. Marine Corps for almost four years. Anybody that knew John, knew that he had a heart of gold and would help anybody out. He was a big jokester and many loved his contagious smile and laugh. John loved music and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing when he got the chance. He was married to Jeannie Eversmen on September 26, 1996.
He is survived by his wife Jeannie Stopksi of Prior Lake; son, Grant (Cindy) Stopski of Morristown; three grandchildren, Katilynn, Kayla, and Carson; brothers, Mike (Claire) Stopski of Two Harbors, MN, Tom Stopski of Prior Lake, MN; sisters, Eraina Vohnoutka of Minneapolis, Linda (Bob) Lambrecht of Missouri, and Crystal (Kevin) Zvanovec of Heidelberg, MN; step-daughter, Kriston (Bruce) Stimpson; step-father, Lawrence "Chappy" Plonsky of Heidelberg; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
