John H. Ryan, age 90, of Faribault, MN, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Steele Center Cemetery in Owatonna, MN with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.
Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
John Harold, the son of John J. and Mary (Jaegar) Ryan was born on September 13, 1928 in Platte, SD. His family would move to Minnesota and he attended West Concord High School. John served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. On May 31, 1952 he was united in marriage to Louise Mollenhauer in Indianapolis, IN. John and Louise farmed for many years and lived in different communities including West Concord, Kenyon, Ellendale and eventually settled in Faribault. Later John worked for 30 years in Savage, MN for Green Giant, that later was purchased by Pillsbury. John enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on cars, riding his bike and traveling. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43, V.F.W. Post 1562 and the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Faribault.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise Ryan of Faribault, MN; by six children, Phil (Jane) Ryan of Madison, WI, Rhonda (Ronnie) Thompson of Northfield, MN, Mark Ryan of Northfield, MN, Brenda (Tom) Story of Bemidji, MN, Craig (Lisa) Ryan of Faribault, MN and Brad Ryan and fiancé Kim Baker of Waseca, MN; by 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and by a great great granddaughter; by his daughter-in-law, Pam (Ralph) Brooks of Faribault, MN; by two sisters, Deloris Kramer of St. Peter, MN and Kathy (Dennis) Houglam of West Concord, MN; by four brothers, Jim (Sharon) Ryan of Friend, NE, Jerry (Josie) Ryan of Friend, NE, Henry (Joan) Ryan of Minneapolis, MN and Dick (Gail) Ryan of Durand, WI; by his sister-in-law, Dixie Ryan of Lindstrom, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin Ryan, daughter, Valerie Ryan, grandchildren, Tessa and Travis Thompson, brothers, Bob and Mike Ryan and sister, Rose Marie Milisfr.
