John (Jack) Nordmeier, age 79, a lifelong resident of Faribault, died on January 18, 2011 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 28, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault. Interment will be held at the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Faribault at a later date. Military honors will be provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Memorial visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are being completed with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home and Crematory of Faribault. John William Nordmeier, the son of Luverne and Clara (Linster) Nordmeier, was born on July 20, 1931 in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1949. John then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his eight years of military service, his work experiences included farm work, truck driving of farm products, and many years at Strout Plastic in Lakeville. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43 and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1562. John had a great passion for horses and enjoyed riding for many years. He is survived by his four sisters, Joan Kust of Mound, Jeanette Craig of Faribault, Joyce (Kenneth) Brazil of Faribault, and Judy (Jerome) Bauer of Medford; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers-in-law, Gerald Kust and Richard Craig. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Faribault Area Hospice, American Cancer Society, or the choice of the donor in memory of John.
