John L. Loeffler, age 85, of Janesville died Thursday evening, September 22, 2016, with his loving wife by his side at Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair with Father Robert Schneider as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the Arnoldt - McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville and continue for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Tuesday.
John Lyle Loeffler was born on July 29, 1931, in Mankato to Andrew and Ellen (King) Loeffler. He grew up in rural St. Clair and attended St. Clair High School where he participated in football and basketball and baseball, graduating in 1949. John began working for a local farmer and later doing road construction until taking a position for GTA which later became Harvest States as a grain buyer.
On March 5, 1962, John was united in marriage to Patricia Schorn at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Clair. Together they raised 3 daughters. John and Pat lived on a farm site outside of Janesville for many years until John retired in 1993, when they moved into town. In 2003, John had a stroke that inhibited him to speak, but his witty sense of humor always shined through.
John was a lifelong faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a true
outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and trapping. He enjoyed watching sports and wildlife shows. He liked puzzles and playing cards, especially pfeffer. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren especially when he would take them out to pick a Christmas tree.
When he needed more assistance with his daily care, John became a resident at Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca, where he was known by all the residents and staff.
John is survived by he loving wife of 55 years, Pat; his three daughters: Lori (Pat) Donlan of Apple Valley, Linda (Rob) Ebnet of Waseca, and Amy Loeffler of Janesville; his grandchildren: Katie, John, Jacob and Tia Donlan, Chris and Michael Steck, Morgan Ebnet, and Alex Loeffler; his sister, Monica Aherns of Mankato; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers: Lowell, Robert and James; and one sister, Alice Juberien.
