John R. Horsman, age 59, of Waseca and formerly of Chatfield, Minnesota, died Monday, March 4, 2013 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester following an extended illness.
Memorial visitation will be held at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
John Rodney, the son of Rodney "Max" and Adeline (Billings) Horsman, was born on May 19, 1953 in Preston, Minnesota. He attended Chatfield High School in Chatfield and graduated with the class of 1972. On May 22, 1999, John was united in marriage to Janice Lurth in Stewartville, Minnesota. John was a lifelong truck driver. He worked at various companies in the area including BMI in Faribault and also at Strongwell in Chatfield. Health problems later required him to retire in November 2006. He and Janice moved to Waseca in 2007 to enjoy retirement together. John loved to fish Clear Lake with Janice, hunt at the farm in Chatfield, woodworking, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janice of Waseca; step children, Shawna Westphal (special friend, Maria Dolge) of Waseca, Isaac Westphal of Owatonna and Ryan Westphal of Owatonna; four step grandchildren; children, Melissa Horsman of Preston, MN and Anna Horsman Wabasha, MN; four grandchildren and by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and by a sister.
