John E. Frels, age 64 of Faribault, MN, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Birchwood Cottages Assisted Living in Owatonna, MN.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 43 in Faribault, MN. Military honors will be conducted by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
John Edward, the son of Irvin and Doris (Olson) Frels, was born on May 28, 1953 in Ashland, WI. He attended Drummond High School and graduated with the class of 1971. After high school John served in the U.S. Air Force. In 1978 he started working at McQuay's, now Daikin, and was a Master Brake Press Operator until illness forced him to stop working earlier this year. John was also a part time firefighter and would do anything to help, even using his 4 wheeler to help with grass fires and learning to scuba dive to be a part of the dive team. John was more than willing to give a helping hand to anyone who asked. John enjoyed going to his parents farm in Cable, WI, was a huge Green Bay Packer fan and could often be seen riding around town on his fire red Harley Davidson.
He is survived by his son, Ryan Frels of Faribault, MN; by six siblings, Judith (Duane) Lewison of Middleton, WI, William (Jill) Frels of Southwest Harbor, ME, Carl (Jessica) Frels of Dalton, PA, Debbie Frels of Chicago, IL, Chris (Rose) Frels of San Diego, CA and Mark Frels of Cable, WI and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janet Frels.
