Joanna Angell

Joanna M. Angell, age 76, of Faribault, MN passed away peacefully on June 6, 2020 at her home with her family at her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault.  Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.  For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed through a link on Joanna’s obituary page.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., Faribault, and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

All visitors are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines and practice social distancing when present at the visitation and funeral.

Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Academy in memory of Joanna.

Joanna Marie was born on June 13, 1943 in Faribault to Joseph and Joyce (Schuller) Smith.  She was raised on her family’s farm and attended St. Canice Grade School in Kilkenny.  She graduated from Bethlehem Academy High School with the class of 1961.  Joanna was married to Gary Angell on April 4, 1962.  She completed training at Ritter’s Beauty School and started her lengthy career as a hairdresser, operating Angell’s Beauty Shop from 1971-2015.

Joanna enjoyed cooking, traveling, sewing, crocheting, and making jewelry.  Her faith was a priority, taking part in many prayer groups and chapel.  Most of all Joanna cherished her grandchildren.  She loved attending their events and was so proud of them.  Joanna always had a great sense of humor, even to her last days.

She is survived by her children, Sherri Angell of Laramie, WY, Randy (Connie) Angell of Faribault, Rick (Sue) Angell of Faribault, and Shelly (Steve)Angell-Gravgaard of Faribault; 10 grandchildren, Sarah(Adam), Annie and Bradley, Adam, Ryan (Kara), Tim, and Caitlin, and Christina (Michael), Maria, and Brianna; four great grandchildren; her siblings, Dianne (Stan) Roemhildt of Kilkenny, Dan Smith of Freeport, MN, Mary Jo (Charlie) Meyer of Faribault, and Colleen Smith (Mike Dube) of Faribault, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary on February 21, 1999; parents, Joseph and Joyce; grandson, Cory Ernste; two brothers, Pat Smith and Jerry Smith; and two sisters, Laurie Smith and Theresa “Terri” Smith.
