Jerome "Jerry" Austin, age 67, of Faribault, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at his home following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with the Rev. Dennis Tamke, pastor of Fourth Avenue United Methodist Church in Faribault officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday for one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to the Faribault Area Hospice. Jerome Keith, the son of Wilvin and Charlotte (Kurseth) Austin, was born on September 2, 1943 in Fairmont, MN. Jerry graduated from Austin Senior High School and then served in the U.S. Army. During this time he met his wife, Brenda Goodwyn and they were married in Huntsville, Alabama. Jerry worked for over 30 years at Crown Cork and Seal in Faribault and retired as a Production Control Manager. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 43 in Faribault and the Faribault Moose Lodge. Jerry loved being outdoors and could often be found outside by his fire pit cooking and relaxing. He enjoyed fishing and bowling and especially enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his wife Brenda Austin of Faribault; by two daughters, Sandy (Rick) Caron of Faribault and Stacy (Tracy) Ergle of Atlanta, GA; by four grandchildren, Justin Austin, Thad (Liz) Caron, Dustin Caron and Xander Ergle and by his great granddaughter, Isabella Caron; by his brother, James (Suzanne) Austin of Faribault and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Steven Austin.
