Jerald N. Malecha, age 82, of Faribault, died on Friday, May 13, 2011 at his home following a brief illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church 139 Mercy Dr. in Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church. A Rosary service will be held on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. Jerald Norbert Malecha, the son of John and Mary (Langr) Malecha, was born on November 7, 1928 in Faribault. He graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1946. He later served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers from 1951 - 1953. Jerry married Lois Jandro on May 6, 1953 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Jerry worked in the construction field from 1955 - 1981 for different contractors in the Faribault area. He then worked as a custodian at Bethlehem Academy for 10 years, retiring in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lois of Faribault; five daughters, Virginia (William) Cade of Oceanside, CA, Laurie (Larry) Salaba, Lyn (Ken) Salaba, and Christine (Terrance) Kern, all of Faribault, and Karen Malecha of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene Malecha, Lawrence (Liselotte) Malecha, and Paul (Mary Jean) Malecha, all of Faribault; two sisters, Frances Helensmith of Okeechobee, FL, and Connie (Richard) Wetter of Faribault; special friends, Larry and Donna Kasperson; and a special thank you to his nephew, Steve Malecha. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Grace Hose and Mary Caddle.
