Jean Sammon

October 7, 1945 — April 28, 2020

Faribault, MN

Jean A. Sammon, age 74 of Faribault, MN passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was loved deeply by family and friends.

Private immediate family services will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with Bernadette Tatge, Pastoral Minister officiating. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to Stand Up to Cancer, Virginia Piper Cancer Institute or the Susan G. Komen Foundation in memory of Jean.

Jean grew up on her family’s dairy farm in rural Faribault and graduated from Faribault High School.

Jean spent 56 years with the love of her life, Dave, boating, traveling and socializing with friends. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, great-grandson, sister and family, and extended family. She loved gardening, vacationing with her family and friends and quiet evenings at her lake home. A yearly highlight was participating in the Race for A Cure each Mother’s Day with her family.

Jean earned her BS in Interior Design from Mankato State University, starting her own contract business. She spent 35 years providing design services for Gray Companies and was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers.

She is survived by her husband, David Sammon of Faribault; by her children, Rodney (Christine) Sammon of Faribault, MN and Paula (Stephen) Wright of Lakeville, MN; by six grandchildren, Lindsey (Jared) Sunde, Jared Sammon, Alexey Sammon (friend Sam), Tyler Wright, Chase Wright and Peyton Wright; by great-grandson Theodor Sunde; by her sister, Nancy (Gary) Tatge of Plymouth, MN and by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Eleanor Kenney.
