Jean E. Hachfeld, age 88, of Mason City, IA and formerly of Faribault, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Heritage Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mason City, IA.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with the Pastor Gary Wunderlich, Pastor of the Cannon City Community Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Jean Eloise, the daughter of Harry E. and Ellen (Blair) Zaske, was born on February 6, 1927 in Backus, MN. She attended Backus High School and graduated with the class of 1945. Following high school Jean attended Nursing School in Faribault for 2 years. On August 7, 1947 she was united in marriage to Armin W. Hachfeld at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Jean was the bookkeeper and helped manage the apartment buildings that Armin would build over the years. Armin preceded her in death on January 4, 1984. Jean was an active member of the Eastern Star and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years at St. Luke's U.C.C. She enjoyed watching birds and was part of the Blue Bird project at the River Bend Nature Center, loved being on the water, was an avid bridge player and enjoyed needlepoint.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail Hachfeld of Hugo, MN; by her daughter-in-law, Karen Hanson of Mason City, IA; by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren and by many nephews, a niece and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Douglas Hachfeld and brother Dorian W. Zaske.
