Jason A. Kaderlik, age 32, of Faribault, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2013, at his home. He was surrounded by his loving family. His passing was due to a life-long battle with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating Jay's life, will be held on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Shieldsville, with the Rev. Erik Lundgren officiating. Private interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault, at a later time.
Memorial visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
The family prefers that memorials be directed to the organization of their choice in memory of Jay. Jay also requested that everyone wear bright colors to his final service.
Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
Jason was born at the District One Hospital in Faribault on November 23, 1980. He lived in Faribault until age 18 and then moved with his family to Shieldsville. Jason attended Faribault Senior High School and graduated with the class of 1999.
Despite his physical limitations it never stopped him from learning and educating himself. Jay loved life and was an inspiration to many. Jay was a sponsor for St. Jude's Children's Fund and gave to JCPenney's Salvation Army Angels program for the past few years. He also loved using his PC to chat online with friends, especially best friends Dave Kaup, Hans Seghars and Petr Wronski.
Jay is survived by his Father and Mother, Mark and Dawn Kaderlik of Shieldsville and by his beloved dog and companion Magic. He is also survived by maternal grandparents, Howard and Winnie Dokken and Aunts, Lori (Randy) Hanegraaf of Burnsville, MN and Lynn (Jerry) Sather of Faribault, Uncle's Steve Kaderlik of Ironwood, MI and Dan Kaderlik of Colorado and by many cousins.
In addition to family, Jay had a special nurse and friend, Annette Hovland and very special Godmother, Valerie Kuchinka.
Jason was preceded in death by Parental Grandparents, Stan and Helen Kaderlik, Aunt Diane Mador and Uncle Billy Dokken.
