Janice R. Dillon, age 87 of Faribault, MN, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault following an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault, with Fr. Kevin Kenney, officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N., on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services.
Janice Ruth, the daughter of Gilbert and Thelma (Bird) Schmidt, was born on April 26, 1930 in Cleveland, MN. She was one of eleven children in their family. Janice was raised in Cleveland and attended school there as well. On May 4, 1948 she was united in marriage to Daniel Dillon in Cleveland. Together they farmed in Wells Township and raised their family. Janice enjoyed caring for the chickens, collecting the eggs and gardening at the farm. She loved spending time with her family, traveling, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Vikings, Twins, and Gopher Football and Basketball. For many years Janice was a member of the Rice County Extension. Daniel preceded her in death on June 7, 2011.
She is survived by five children, Tom Dillon of Faribault, MN, Deborah (Mark) Gillen of Faribault, MN, Pam Dillon of Morristown, MN, Bob Dillon of Faribault, MN and Deanne Panos of Medford, MN; by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; by her son-in-law, Kenny Neymeyer of Faribault, MN; by her sister, Virginia Filler of St. Peter, MN; by two brothers, Roger (Andrea) Schmidt of Madison Lake, MN and Terry (Monica) Schmidt of Cleveland, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; parents; her daughter, Patsy Neymeyer; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Dillon; and by three sisters and four brothers.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home and Hospice for the loving care that was given to their mother.
