Janice Boeke

Janice J. Boeke, age 76 of Waseca, died on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. John Omans officiating. Private family interment will be held Grandview Cemetery in Austin.

Visitation will be held on Thursday morning at the church from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are being completed by the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Waseca.

Janice Jodell, the daughter of Leonard and Bertha (Thomson) Holderness, was born on September 2, 1936 in Lansing Township, Mower County, Minnesota. She attended Austin High School and graduated with the class of 1955. Following high school, Jan continued her education at Faribault Vo-Tech, where she earned her LPN license. Jan was united in marriage to James Schoenecke in 1955 and had three children. They later divorced.

She later married Donald Boeke in 1971. They lived in Owatonna where she worked at Rainbow Residence as a nurse for twenty five years. After Donald later passed away, Jan moved to Waseca where she enjoyed attending church at St. John, quilting, going out with friends and family and walking her dog, Susie. She will be remembered for her witty attitude and outgoing personality.

Jan is survived by her children, Sandra (Dave) Stewart, Diane (Lee) Holthus, both of Waseca, and Kerry (Vivianne) Schoenecke; her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; her mother, Bertha Holderness of Austin; her two sisters, Darlene (Dennis) Kolb of Austin and Linda Olson of Tracy, MN, and by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Holderness; her brother, Gene Holderness and her husband, Donald Boeke.
