Janet Burke

Janet "Sue" Burke, age 73, of Annandale and formerly of Faribault, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN.             Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. at The Chapel of the Good Shepherd on the campus of Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Faribault with the Rev. Henry Doyle officiating.             Visitation will be held at the chapel on Tuesday for one hour prior to services.             The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Rice-LeSueur Red Cross and the Annandale Improvement Club.             Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault.             Janet Sue Silcox, the daughter of William and Elaine (Muckle) Silcox, was born on August 3, 1935 in St. Paul, MN. Sue attended John Marshall High School in St. Paul and graduated with the class of 1952. On Aug. 3, 1957 she was united in marriage to Robert E. Burke at the St. Paul Cathedral in St. Paul, MN. Bob preceded her in death on October 2, 1995. In 1960 Bob and Sue moved to Faribault, a town that has always been dear to her heart. Sue worked for 18 years as the Registrar at Shattuck-St. Mary's School, retiring in 1990. In retirement Bob and Sue moved to Cedar Lake in Annandale, MN. Sue was an avid bridge player and was a member of several bridge clubs in Faribault. She also was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching football. Sue enjoyed watching and playing along with Jeopardy. Cedar Lake in Annandale was very special to her and she loved every minute there with family and friends.              She is survived by four children, Elizabeth (Phillip) Trout of Faribault, Robert Burke Jr. of Tipton, IA, Kenneth Burke of St. Louis Park, MN and Terrence (Lisa) Burke of Andover, MN; by eight grandchildren, Aundrea, Ryan, Megan, Lauren, Rachel, Bridget, Connor and Lily; by two great grandchildren, Briann and Alexis; by her sister, Elaine (Daniel) Gephart of Annandale, MN and by other relatives and friends.             She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, William Silcox and by her niece, Patricia Gephart.
