James E. Rech, age 77, of Faribault, MN, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ The King Catholic Church in Medford, MN with Fr. Kevin Connolly, officiating. Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.
Visitation will be held at the new location of Parker Kohl Funeral Home, 1725 Lyndale Ave. N. in Faribault on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to services. There will be no reviewal at the church on Monday.
James Ervin, the son of Ervin and Lorraine (DuChene) Rech, was born on April 27, 1940 in Faribault, MN. He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1959. After high school Jim served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Last Man Standing 428. On August 24, 1963 he was united in marriage to Diane Jandro at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. Jim worked for 37 years at Crown Cork & Seal in Faribault. When he wasn't at work Jim enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, making fishing lures, bird watching, spending time with family and friends and spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Faribault Police Reserve, a charter member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 480 and held many offices during his 37 years, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2098, the American Legion Post 43 and the Knights of Columbus Council #889, all of Faribault, the Morristown Gun Club and the Kenyon Sportsman Club.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane M. Rech; sons, Jimmie (Kristine) Rech and Joseph (Nikki) Rech; daughter, Susanne (Todd) Fitcher; by nine grandchildren, Derek (Ashley) Fitcher, Ryan Fitcher, Alexandra (Nate) Maldonado, Justin, Bryce, Carter and Wyatt Rech and Bleiz and Zeah Rech and by six great grandchildren, Danica, Alek and Cara Fitcher, Jameson Rech, Ameila Gotreau and Abel Maldonado; by his siblings, Kenny (Diane) Rech, Mary Kay Thompson, Joyce (Gil) Ross and Dale (Debbie) Rech and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two granddaughters, Emilie Grace and Randyll Lorraine Rech, his sister, Beverly Hansen, two brothers, David and Richard Rech, by brothers-in-law, Randy Thompson, Stanley, Cyril, Howard, Walter, Roger and Dale Jandro, Jerald Malecha, Jerry Mullenberg and sister-in-law, Patricia M. Jandro.
